This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have a large number of IBM DS8886's in our environment and frequently have connectivity issues for our FICON and FCP ports. Unfortunately, we do not have any visibility within the DS8886 to the connection (if any) at the other end of the cable. This frequently then requires that someone physically trace the cabling to the other end if configuration sheets do not match the actual cabling. We would like a DSCLI command and GUI commands that would show the connection state of any connected FCP or FICON port. This should include information like s/n and port at the destination end.

Need to discuss with the GUI team. This has some overlap with RFE #73210 (DS8K GUI identification of used ports on IO cards).
Recently released (R8.3) enhancements to DS8800 Read Diagnostic Parameters (RDP) function may provide the information you need. At least, it provides the WWPN of the attached port and the current state of the link, including the active link speed and link speed capabilities.
Please see this link in the knowledgecenter and look for the -rdp option on showioport:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ST5GLJ_8.3.3/com.ibm.storage.ssic.help.doc/f2c_clishowioport_1kyvlb.html
For example:
dscli>showioport -rdp I0103
ID I0103
WWPN 50:05:07:63:03:03:00:45
Attached WWPN 50:05:07:63:03:FF:C0:45
…
Port Speed Capabilities 4GFC 8GFC 16GFC
Port Operating Speed 16GFC
…
The lsioport command can be used to create your list of ports IDs of interest.
This information is not yet available using the GUI.
