Auto change of Replication Mode from MM to GM

India's top multiple largest public and private sector banks are using IBM DS8000 Storage for their critical core banking setup. The overall arch implemented for critical db is zero data loss for which customer are using MM technology of IBM DS8K storage.
However they are highly depended on external link vendor and ISP for providing the services of extended SAN connectivity between two storage.

Due to slight fluctuations / link congestion customer faces huge impact on the production and impacts end customer services resulting in business loss and RBI compliance issue.

While we try all possible option to mitigate this constraint however we do not have any tools which can monitor event logs at one secs interval.

No tools available at switch level nor at any host level. The impact occurs in split of seconds and till the time admin takes any action the damage is done.

In order to reduce the business impact can we have
a) Dedicate ports for replication in storage
b) We have some scripts which can monitor the buffer usages of this ports at sub sec interval. (the value should be auto learn by the DS8K based on weeks monitoring).
c) In case the buffer usages goes high the replication configure as MM should auto switch to GM.

With this there will be no impact to the host and business .

Switching back to MM should be done by customer manually post doing the through analysis of the link and storage.

If this can be achieved it will be a true win for IBM value to all the banks using this arch and will also help them to showcase the true value of IBM as give back to the customer.
