This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Installation of DSCLI with all Java Versions

Manual "DS8 Command-Line Users Guide":
Java Platform (Java 8 or later) must be installed on your system.
The installation program checks for this requirement during installation and does not install the DS CLI if you do not have Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java 8 or later).

That's incorrect.

Installation is only possible with Java 8. Installation is not possible with Azul Zulu Java 11, 17, and 21, or Semeru Java 11, 17, and 21 (see IBM Case TS020470067).

The IBM Next Level Team recommends using Java 8.
When Java 8 reaches its end of support, DSCLI can no longer be installed.

Therefore, future DSCLI releases should work without problems with all Java versions.
