Repair actions on components can always result in an increase in the utilization of the component and if this results in exceeding safe utilization levels then a performance impact could be experienced. The High Performance Flash Enclosure used in the current generation of DS8000 is designed to support very high throughput levels, such that with proper sizing there should be sufficient headroom to handle failure and repair events without excessive impact to production workloads. With prior generations of Device Adapter in conjunction with SSD drives it was easier to hit the performance limits as experienced in this particular situation.
