Global Mirror RPO Alerting from DS8000

Clients running Global Mirror replication are always concerned about the state of their replication - mainly through the RPO metric. Currently, there is no direct RPO reporting that is handled by the DS8000 system itself. For clients not using management software, or those who desire that the no single point of failure concept also apply to their alerting, this requires a client to build a homegrown system to periodically monitor the RPO and send alerts as necessary. 

Since the DS8000 already has an alerting system through email, syslog, or SNMP, it would be very advantageous for clients to be able to leverage this system for RPO alerts. We would like the ability to specify at least 2 customizable thresholds - one that would generate a warning message and another for an error message.
