This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

When using maximum sized CKD EAV (Extended Address) volumes on the DS8K it would be useful to to have more than 14.6TiB of safeguarded volume capacity available. If these large volumes experience high change rates they can easily use up all of the allowable safeguarded capacity for them. This becomes a limiting factor on safeguarded copy retention when the desire is to have complete copy sets that includes all volumes within it. With the limit in place it seems our only choice if we extend retention is to have partial SGCs with internal roll-offs for these large volumes. Increasing the limit will relieve the constraint and allow customers to take advantage of complete SGCs for a longer retention period, as long as the overall SGC capacity on the DS8K is available.
