Encryption: Switching between Local and External Encryption

Many customers today, like this one, start with Local encryption. Also as this is cheaper, and less effort, than purchasing GKLM. And Local is often initially enough, for data-at-rest encryption.

But later on they hear about IFCES (IBM Fibre Channel Endpoint Security), or TCT data-in-flight encryption, and then they come to the point that they need the external key manager. And as DAR encryption with external key manager is somehow the safer and better solution, they also would want to have all kinds of encryption, including DAR, then with and run by the external key manager.

The Redbook however currently says that switching between internal and external key management is not supported. A change would be fully disruptive.

Asking to allow such a switching, i.e. online, so that a switch from Local encryption to external encryption is possible, without effort/downtime/or losing any data on the machine.
