ilab: DS8900 UI not provide FICON device with Z host relation

ilab: DS8900 UI not provide FICON device with Z host relation

I used to open a DS8000 CMVC defect 346655 against this issue. But according to developer's advice, I should open a RFE and they will be discussing it in future.

Here's the developer's comment in cmvc:
<Note by robmel (Melendrez Pena, Roberto de Jes), 2019/11/08 14:20:06, seq: 7 rel: 0 action: note>
After a double check about this comment with the UIX Architect We found that this change isn?t very simple like you see, Currently the low levels components don?t have the support to provide this information to the GUI for show the z Host information. And GUI will need to show some new pages that show more information from the z Host.

Can you please open a RFE on the following link: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=searchRFEs&SELECTED_SEARCH_TAB=TAB1&SPECIFY_PRODUCT_TYPE=SPECIFY_PRODUCT_ONLY&BRAND_ID=352&PROD_FAM_ID=623&BRAND_ID_SEARCH=352&PROD_FAM_ID_SEARCH=623&PROD_ID_SEARCH=1435&COMP_ID=16&CREATED_BY=&KEYWORDS=&KW_TYPE=1&START_DATE=&STOP_DATE=&CR_ID=&COMPANY=&GROUP_ID=&rfenumber=id&PAGE=1&ITEMS_PER_PAGE=20&SORT_BY=CREATE_DATE&SORT_ORDER=DESC&HIDE_DESCRIPTIONS=true&is_javascript_enabled=false

Because we can?t fix this issue with a cmvc because is a really big change we need changes on three or more components to fix this, so we need a RFE to track this change. So yes DS8K Development will work this issue but we need a lot of discussions with DS8K/UIX Architects to determinate the design and architecture about this improvement.

So please open the RFE and DS8K Development will continue with the investigation.

We are returning this cmvc as Working as design because to work on this improvement we need a RFE.

This is WAD so far. We are considering this fix for a newer release. But this is a big change that involve a lot fo components (not only GUI). Please open a RFE. GUI team should be discussing this with the Architects to work on a new design

In release 9.2, DS89900F delivered a Fibre Channel Connectivity Report feature that shows host logins from all hosts and other DS8Ks for PPRC, including FICON. For those z host operating systems that support path grouping, the path "system name" associated with the login is displayed in that report, along with physical path connectivity information that identifies the connections through the SAN to the host, including the host serial number.

Showckdvolume displays the path group ID witch contains the last 4 digits of that host serial number and also provides the image ID.
So, in essence, this feature has been provided in Release 9.2 which was GA??d Aug 20, 2021.
