We have a customer in South Africa that wants the flexibility to use 4-site cascaded GM. Primarily the use case would be to offload GM overhead to the MM target. It is supported for 3-site Metro Global Mirror so should also be ported to the 4-site topology if possible. Noted the comments about the complexity of cascaded GM but we would appreciate it if this could be considered for a future release.
Thank you for the quick response. We'll leave this under consideration. At the current time, as stated previously, most customers from CSM move towards the MT 4 site solution. So due to resources and demand this is request is currently lower in priority until more customers request the solution. But we will consider the request.
We have around 8 GDPS environments and due to our current setup, we have not considered having a MT 4site solution. Cascaded solution is what we have designed and functioning and running since years. Having a cascaded 4-site option greatly helps us in implementing our migrations quicker.
We will look into this however CSM prefers the Multi-target MM-GM 4 site solution for a reason. Multi-target setups are simpler and have a lot fewer steps necessary against the hardware in order to switch sites. Cascaded solutions require several complicated steps for some failover scenarios which means more possibilities for error. If a cascaded solution is necessary can you please provide justification why cascaded is needed and the multi-target solution does not meet your requirements.
