IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

CSM Heap Usage Monitoring

In mixed storage environments where a single CSM instance manages multiple sessions, especially with SGC, administrators do not have real-time visibility into current Java heap utilization. As a result, there is no reliable way to determine whether sufficient headroom exists to safely accommodate additional sessions.  CSM should expose this information directly, either through a monitoring dashboard card or a supported API endpoint, that breaks down current heap usage by session type and clearly shows remaining headroom before exhaustion. This would enable predictable capacity planning as enterprises scale their managed storage environments.  This need is particularly critical on space‑constrained DS8000 HMC platforms, where 8 GB is the maximum available heap size and there is little margin for error.
